Aluminium is extracted from its ore by an electrolytic process. One extraction plant uses an applied e.m.f. of 4 V, and a current of 200 000 A. One tonne of aluminium is extracted after 18 hours.

What is the effective electrical resistance from the cell?

How much energy, in joules, is used in extracting one tonne of aluminium?

I have read through all my course books and can't find the answer to this anywhere.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
