Radical Criminology

A conflict perspective that sees crime as engendered by the unequal distribution of wealth, power, and other resources, which adherents believe is especially characteristic of capitalist societies.
• Radical criminology blames criminality and deviant behavior on officially sanctioned cultural and economic arrangements.
• Distribution of wealth and power in society is held to be the primary cause of criminal behavior.
• Explain that radical criminologists see the causes of crime as rooted in social inequities.

Left-Realist Criminology

Left Realism argues that crime disproportionately affects working class people, but that solutions that only increase repression serve to make the crime problem worse. Instead they argue that the root causes of crime lie in relative deprivation, although preventative measures and policing are necessary, but these should be democratically controlled.

Feminist Criminology

A developing intellectual approach that emphasizes gender issues in criminology.

Peacemaking Criminology

Peacemaking criminology holds that crime control agencies and the citizens they serve should work together to alleviate social problems and human suffering and thus reduce crime.

Hope this helps!
