Can you explain to me how I'm supposed to solve...

(x^2-x-30)/(x^2-7x+6)

and this one..

(6x^2+x-2)/(3x^2+14x+8)

I had trouble factoring.
Thank you!

you are correct, factoring and cancelling is the way to go.

these really should be easy to factor
so i'm not going to do them for you
because you must really need the practice.

one thing you can do when you get really stuck
is completing the square:
e.g.
3x^2 + 14x + 8 = 0
then
3x^2 + 14x = -8
x^2 + 14/3x = -8/3
x^2 + 14/3x + (7/3)² = -8/3 + 49/9
(x + 7/3)² = 25/9
x + 7/3 = ±5/3
x = ±5/3 - 7/3
x = -2/3 or x = -4
so
(3x + 2)(x + 4)

see links for other ways
