For each Of the problems below, choose an appropriate modeling type and find the modeling equation using calculator as much as you like, but explain your process part of your solution.
 
1. A small firm collected data on its advertising expenditures for for those same years. The results are shown in the table below:

a. Find an appropriate modeling equation.

b. Predict the revenue if $18 thousand was spent on advertising.

c. According to the model, how much should be spent on advertising in order to maximize the revenue? (Round answer to two decimal places.)

It looks like the data is an upside down parabola, a quadratic.

Use the y = a(x - h)^2 + k

Where h and k is the vertex. The vertex is (27, 6453).

y = a(x - 27)^2 + 6453

Now to find a. Set a point given as x and y:

x = 20, y = 6101

6101 = a(20 - 27)^2 + 6453

(6101 - 6453)/(-7)^2 = a

a = -7.18

Therefore: \(y=-7.18(x-27)^2+6453\)



For (b), substitute x = 18

\(5871.12\)
